Your NDIS plan review is a prime opportunity to ensure your supports and goals remain aligned with your evolving needs. With the right preparation and approach, you can enter your review meeting confident, organised and ready to secure the funding and services that will help you thrive.

1. Review Your Current Plan & Reports

  • Download your plan summary from the NDIS portal and note your budget breakdown (Core, Capacity-Building, Capital).

  • Gather service reports and progress notes from support workers, therapists and coordinators—these demonstrate what’s working well and where you need more focus.

2. Collect Evidence & Documentation

  • Create a simple folder or digital file of assessment reports, doctor’s letters and therapy updates that highlight your achievements and ongoing challenges.

  • Include photos or videos of any equipment in use (e.g., mobility aids, home modifications) to justify continued funding.

3. Clarify Your Goals

  • Reflect on the goals you set last year—which ones have you achieved? Which need more time or resources?

  • Draft new SMART goals (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) for the year ahead. For example: “Increase independent showering from twice to five times weekly by month six.”

4. Coordinate with Your Support Team

  • Book a pre-review meeting with your plan manager or support coordinator to discuss budget shifts and any service gaps.

  • Ask them to submit a provider-led request in the portal if you need to reallocate funds between categories (e.g., moving hours from Core to Capacity-Building).

5. Prepare Questions & Talking Points

  • Write down any concerns (e.g., “I need more therapy hours for social skills”) and questions (e.g., “Can I use Capacity-Building funds for transport?”).

  • Keep your list handy during the review so nothing gets forgotten.

6. Engage Actively in the Review

  • When meeting with the NDIA planner or Local Area Coordinator, speak clearly about your lived experiences and how supports have impacted your daily life.

  • Be honest about any unmet needs—this is your chance to advocate for the resources you require.

7. Follow Up & Implement Changes

  • After the review, check your updated plan promptly in the portal to confirm agreed supports and budget allocations.

  • Share the new plan with providers and schedule any new services or equipment purchases as soon as possible.

By approaching your NDIS plan review with organised documentation, clear goals and proactive communication, you’ll maximise your chances of securing the right supports to help you meet your ambitions. Start preparing early, stay focused on outcomes, and remember that your voice is the most powerful tool in shaping a plan that truly works for you.
